In this senior leadership role reporting to the CEO, Alex is responsible for developing and implementing an integrated ESG (environmental, social, & governance) strategy that ensures Brown-Forman’s growth ambitions are environmentally and socially sustainable. In this role, he is also responsible for the company’s work on Alcohol Responsibility.

Alex joined Brown-Forman in 2007 as the Director of Bottling Operations, based in
Louisville, KY. Over time, his responsibilities increased across the production operations, leading him to serve as the Vice President, General Manager of Casa Herradura, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Prior to his current role, he served as the Chief Production Officer, covering Brown-Forman’s global supply chain and manufacturing footprint, as well as product innovation, engineering, safety, quality, and environmental sustainability. In 2019, his role expanded to include the title of Chief Sustainability Officer, leading the company’s efforts around global sustainability.

In addition to his professional obligations, Alex sits on several boards including the DendriFund, the American Forest Foundation, the Brown-Forman Foundation, and the Community Foundation of Louisville. In 2021, he was recognized by Latino Leaders Magazine on their list of ‘Top Latinos in Corporate America.’ Within Brown-Forman, Alex is an executive sponsor of BUILD, the employee resource group dedicated to identifying exceptional African American talent, enhancing the Black experience, and serving our communities.

Prior to joining Brown-Forman, Alex led production operations for General Mills and Procter & Gamble. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Business.

Originally from Panama, Alex lives in Louisville, KY with his wife Carol and their two
daughters.
